Investing in our Youth
Investing In Our Youth
Once a month ConinghamLee organizes and participates in a community enrichment project which has culminated in an annual fundraising initiative where all proceeds go directly towards the ConinghamLee Academy.
The vision of the ConinghamLee Academy is to better the course of the lives of disadvantaged youth in our community through education.
Our objective is to sponsor the tuition fees for a tertiary qualification of at least one student each year. Instead of opting for correspondence or distance learning we want to provide an opportunity for the student to attend classes on campus and so benefit from a learning environment while broadening their horizons. ConinghamLee staff assist the students through a mentorship programme by facilitating and providing support, from start to completion of their qualification.
At the beginning of 2016 the ConinghamLee Academy accepted two students from Nkobongo, a township near Ballito, who matriculated with good marks but were unable to afford tertiary education. Delani and Nondumiso are currently enrolled for full-time studies at the Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology. The students are being mentored by ConinghamLee employees on a regular basis, and both are thriving as they near the end of the 1st semester.
We raise funds annually for the Academy, for more information about the ConinghamLee Academy and our fundraising initiatives please visit our website: www.coninghamlee.co.za
